Artist Crams Bookshelves With Tiny Apartment Dwellings

While the world has seen all manner of buildings constructed with books as bricks, Dutch artist Frank Halmans—yes, the very same guy who makes dollhouses from vacuum cleaners—uses literature to a somewhat different architectural effect, cutting through the pages and hard covers. For the series Built of Books, Halmans carved up stacks of old tomes to create windows and doors, then tied the stack together, the bundles forming apartment buildings. More below.
