A small Colorado company is developing products for the latest frontier in backcountry ski travel. The company, UpSki, sells kites/parachutes for "wind mountaineering" - where skiers can harness mountain winds to fly up 35-40 degree backcountry slopes and score fresh tracks going down without ever having to lift a heel to hike.
