Decoded: the Most 'Intimate' Listings in the Country

Welcome back to The Brokerbabble Glossary, where Curbed takes a word or phrase that shows up repeatedly in listings and deciphers its true meaning. Ideas? Hit up the tipline.

The word "intimate" is most commonly used as a synonym for "small," but occasionally it's used to mean who knows what. It's difficult to see how these ceilings are imparting intimacy, but the plush, tiger-print barstools are definitely doing something along those lines.

There are 58 photos accompanying this listing and this is the only one with a single book visible, meaning that this room must be the equivalent of a "library." Hey, at least "intimate" is only the second most misused word.

A lot of smallish buildings get described as intimate, for reasons that are not entirely clear to anyone.

Translation: home contains many couches facing each other or fireplaces.
