Finally - our first Crested Butte listing! And it's good one (although it comes at a price). Sitting on Maroon Avenue in the quintessential ski town center of Crested Butte, "Shangri-La" as it is known (at least by its vacation rental marketing) is a 1900-vintage example of classic Colorado Victorian architecture that received a big makeover in 2008. Three separate buildings make up the property, with a 4,527 square foot main house, a cute 736 square foot guest house and a separate 509 square foot rental surrounding a backyard patio with an 8-person hot tub complimented with views of the ski hill. Like any rehabbed mountain home with 113-year old wood beams, exposed framing is the norm, along with a colorful palette of stained woods to match the red and blue exteriors of the Victorian structures. 6 bedrooms and 6 baths make up the interior, with one of them sporting a particularly luscious shower curtain we'd like to steal and turn into a costume for a burlesque show theme party.
Snapping up Shangri-La for $2,950,000 will put any buyer on the high end of downtown CB purchases, as its nearly twice the price of the next closest listing in town. Still, it's come down $800,000 since its listing a year and a half ago. One of the locals seem to think the listing agent's a "kook," though.
