It turns out there's space available on the CapeFLYER's ceremonial trial run, perfect for those who just can't wait for the Memorial Day launch. The Boston to Hyannis train will head out of South Station on Saturday morning at 9:30 a.m. , but Cape Codders can avoid traveling all the way into Beantown by hopping aboard just over the bridge.
Tickets are $10 roundtrip for Buzzards Bay to Hyannis ($20 from Boston) and part of the proceeds will benefit The One Fund. (Looks like tickets need to be purchased in advance, so make haste if you're interested!) Best of all, "Transportation is available from Hyannis to Buzzards Bay to join the last leg of the trip." The CapeFLYER departs from Buzzards Bay Station at 10:45 a.m. and arrives in Hyannis an hour later - plenty of time to enjoy local snacks and perhaps hobnob with some bigwigs. Upon arrival, an "informal press conference" will take place at the Hyannis Transportation Center [see: bigwigs] and then:
"Jack" the trolley will be here to take you for a ride through Historic Main Street, the Waterfront and the HyArts Cultural District.
The train will depart the Hyannis Transportation Center at 2:30 p.m. stopping at 3:30 p.m. in Buzzards Bay to meet with town officials and arriving at South Station at approximately 5:00 p.m. If press conferences and Jack aren't your thing, we're pretty sure attendance isn't mandatory and you can do your own thing on Main Street.
