The Vail Daily is reporting that both the Ritz-Carlton Bachelor Gulch in Beaver Creek and The Cascade in Vail Village are undergoing spring renovations. The Ritz is pumping about $15 million into redone hotel rooms and public areas, including the lobby, and is closed until June 5th. The Cascade is finishing up a job that began in 2007, when the hotel redid its conference spaces, restaurant, and landscaping, and is now redoing rooms and lobbies inside the hotel. Periodic interior renos are the norm in the luxury hotel industry, as long-time guests want to see the drapes changed every few vacations. Unfortunately, none of the work will be going into Vail Village itself, which needs some work to look like a town with its own character instead of a Disneyfied Alps village with fake German names.
