Faux-distressed wood in Rocky Mountain ski mansions, meant to evoke the working ranches or mines that used to dot the land in the 19th century before ski resorts brought all the Manhattanites to town, are pretty much the norm for any ski home in Colorado, Utah, Montana, or Idaho over 5,000 square feet. Many of them are blundering overwrought exercises, but despite its heft, the thinner wood slatting on the exterior of this 9,235 square foot Deer Crest ski-in, ski-out manse does a nice job of giving it a more modest and relaxed feel. But that's not to say this 6 bed, 7 bath has a modest breadth of amenities. Multiple his and her bathrooms fill out the interior, along with ski prep room and a living room and master bedroom sporting extensive views down to Jordanelle Resevoir. That office, though! It'd be tough to motivate being saddled up in the bleakest part of the interior, and at $7.9 million, a buyer deserves to feel a little more motivated to bang out those pesky pre-ski work e-mails.
