The Skinny: Iranian musician and contemporary artist Reza Derakhshani—an art world darling whose canvases have fetched more than $111K at auction—splits his time between a home in Dubai and this sprawling compound in Austin, Texas. According to the $3M listing, the unique home was "originally envisioned as a Modern Mayan Utopian building enterprise [...] by artist and building visionary Charles Trois," completed in 1985, the collection of stone and steel buildings today house Derakhshani's home and studios, complete with three bedrooms, four baths, a photo studio, a painting studio, a recording studio, and a workshop suited to the artist's particular brand of sculpture. The private, six-acre grounds abut Emma Long Park and also play host to a lap pool and a towering stone-and-brick amphitheater.
