What $700K Can Buy You Around The Cape & Islands

It's time once again for Curbed Comparisons, where we break down what you can get at the same price point, style or size in five different Cape and Islands neighborhoods. This week, listings for $700,000.

? Kicking off in Provincetown with The Boathouse, a 1BR, 1BA condo directly on Cape Cod Bay. Built in 1900, the year-round 487 sq. ft. freestanding cottage has waterviews on three sides, an exclusive use deck and parking for one. The property last changed hands in 2005 for $685,000 and returned to the market in May 2011 asking $735,000. The listing was removed in October 2011 and reappeared last month with a $729,300 price tag.

? Here's an "oh so charming" 3BR, 1BA antique in Eastham with 80' of water frontage on Town Cove. The renovated 840 sq. ft. cottage features elevated views of Salt Pond Bay, Nauset Marsh and the Atlantic. First listed in May 2009 for $899,000, the property has been de-listed and re-listed a number of times before a meeting with the pricechopper in January 2012 brought the ask down to $749,000. One year later, in January of this year, the pricechopper returned, slicing the price tag down to $699,000.

? Over on Nantucket we find a 2BR, 2BA condo located at the beginning of Cliff Road. The second floor unit in the historic Captain McKay house features 958 sq. ft. with an open floor plan and a balcony. First listed in March 2011 for $759,900, two pricechops have brought the ask down to $699,000.

? Ferrying over to the Vineyard now to check out a 2,511 sq. ft. 3BR, 3BA contemporary in Edgartown. According to the brokerbabble, "This is truly a home for those who won't abide the ordinary!" Regardless, the Dude abides and the place is yours for $699,000.

? Finally, to West Barnstable. Built in 1790, this 3BD, 3BA has been completely upgraded by the owner, a master craftsman. The property includes three working fireplaces, a custom kitchen and a recently built heated 2,304 sq. ft. barn. According to the brokerbabble, "The 1.67 acres abound with magical gardens," but they do not abide. Yours for $699,000.
