Rudolph Schindler's Manola Court, Built for Artist, Now $2.5M

Have a nomination for a jaw-dropping listing that would make a mighty fine House of the Day? Get thee to the tipline and send us your suggestions. We'd love to see what you've got.

Location: Los Angeles, Calif.
Price: $2,500,000
The Skinny: A landmark in the hip Los Angeles neighborhood of Silver Lake, the Manola Court apartments are a group of 16 units arranged in a terraced formation over three adjacent lots. Designed in 1926 by Southern California architecture legend Rudolph Schindler, the complex was built for Romanian-born artist Herman Sachs and incorporates broad windows and double-height ceilings in his former studio space. Listed for $2.5M, the 16-unit compound is a prime example of modernist architecture, but time has not been kind to the condition of the property. Rumor has it the foundation is in need of substantial work and the interiors could also use a renovation, but given the scale of the property and increasing investor interest in the once-questionable neighborhood, this may find a buyer quickly despite the condition issues.
