Actor Tom Hanks and his wife, actress Rita Wilson, have finally listed the SoCal house they bought as newlyweds in 1988, back when Hanks career was just picking up speed. Twenty-five years ago—a few months after his performance in Big earned him an Oscar nod and a whole six years before Forrest Gump—the pair bought the 6,289-square-foot Spanish-style villa, complete with interiors Curbed LA calls "weirdly grandmotherly," for $1.9M, though, since then, Hanks and Wilson have snatched up a few flashier properties, including a $26M contemporary manse in the very same part of Los Angeles.
While the brokerbabble for the circa-1929 villa brags about four bedrooms, "intimate library," frescoed ceilings, and private beauty salon, the real upswing is its location; the vine-enshrouded house sits in the celebrity-packed Pacific Palisades enclave, home to A-listers such as Matt Damon, Hilary Swank, and Kate Hudson. Anyway, check out the listing photos above.
