Frank Fucking Gehry

Glory, glory, hallelujah: the much-embattled design for DC's Eisenhower Memorial has finally been approved, Curbed DC reports. This time around, Frank Gehry added a bronze-and-stone backdrop of the landing at Normandy behind the statue of Eisenhower as a General, as well as a new image of him signing the Civil Rights Act of 1957. With those "tapestries of Ike's Kansas roots" still in place, it'll take about a millisecond for the National Civic Art Society to freak out again. [Curbed DC; previously]
