It's a Small World After All at Vail's Sonnealp Resort

Although It may be one of Curbed Ski's Essential 38, some guests (myself included) of the Sonnenalp Resort in Vail think that the Austrian theme is taken a little too far. I get the vibe they're going for, but I couldn't help feeling like I was back in the boat at Disney World throughout my stay. Here's a few Trip Advisor posters who's team I'm on:

"Cute in a 'I'm a Swiss Miss' sort of way."

You mean the design studio or the hot cocoa?

"This place reminds me of medieval times. The decor is unbelievably tacky. For the price and excellent reviews, I expected way more. Stay somewhere else."

Wow, wow, wow. You don't mean the Medieval Times, do you? Let's not scoff my blind date dinner preferences, please!

"This is a weird place, it belongs at an amusement park. Even the employees were theses silly Austrian outfits, all seems like a bad 'Sound of Music' chapter."

...which is what every Aspenite would say about Vail Village to begin with.

"On a very personal note, I really didn't like the help's uniforms. I found the peasant-style dresses embarrassing."

Not only are the uniforms embarrassing for the ski bums who wear them, they're even bad enough for the guests to be embarrassed? Dear Leading Hotels of the World, maybe it's time to lose the costumes on your Sonnenalp staff?
