After DJ Calvin Harris burst onto the global scene this year with "Sweet Nothing," his hit collaboration with Florence Welch, the 29-year-old Scot decided it was time to upgrade his digs. Harris dropped $7M on this Hollywood Hills pad, designed by Whipple Russell Architects. The four-bedroom, six-bath compound wraps around a picturesque swimming pool and enjoys so-called "airliner views" of the Los Angeles city lights. Walls of glass facing out on the swimming pool give the place a "delightful floating effect," according to the architects, but good luck keeping the windows clean after an EDM-fueled house party. It should be said that this is a huge step up for Harris, who was living in far less glamorous circumstances as recently as last year. More on that, below, along with the homes of three more House music moguls.
? Prior to his star status, Harris was, at least according to this joke YouTube video, living out of a mid-rate hotel room. That's not surprising, given the wild touring schedule most up-and-comers have to endure. In the MTV Cribs ripoff, Harris gives viewers a complete tour of his cramped temporary quarters, as well as a quick look around the hotel's car park, where a truck and Citroen rental car stand in for Harris' "whips."
? Few DJs have achieved the superstardom of festival favorite Tiësto, but when he went house hunting in Miami, he didn't settle on a star-worthy waterfront estate, instead opting for a corner townhouse on Aqua Island. The Dutch DJ has since sold the property, but this archived marketing video shows off the, er, unique interiors, including a full wall decal with a shot of Tiësto playing to a crowd; a sliding door that reveals a billiards room with bar; and plenty of hypermodern furniture.
? The parade of video tours rolls on with this look at the Toronto penthouse of Canadian DJ Deadmau5. Set up like the ultimate bachelor pad, the black-and-green themed pad boasts a giant television, an air hockey table, a fireplace, a "temporary studio," a slew of Mac products, and a whole wing of the apartment that was, as of February 2012, being outfitted as a permanent studio.
? Though he has some experience as a music producer, Val Kolton made most of his money hawking stylized headphones and other audiophile gear under the V-Moda brand. He poured part of his fortune into the Fortress, a concrete behemoth of a home in the Hollywood Hills. Kolton listed the seven-bedroom, 10,000-square-foot mansion, the scene of many an extravagant party, for $12M in 2011, but had to chop it several times before it finally sold in October 2012 for $7.2M.
