Vail Will Replace Chair 4 With High-Speed Six-Pack

Vail Mountain has gotten approval to replace the high-speed Mountaintop Express Quad, also known as Chair 4, with a high-speed six-pack while also adding in a loading conveyor-belt system, already popular in Europe, but which will be the first for any six-passenger lift in the US. Vail's claiming the lift will boost the capacity of the lift, one of the mountain's busiest, by 33%. The Mountaintop Express, which first became a high-speed quad in 1985, provides access to ski patrol headquarters as well as the Back Bowls and Blue Sky Basin.

Vail also won approval to replace the Gopher Hill fixed-grip double (Chair 12) with a fixed-grip triple.
