Anyone Down to Live in a Modern Pad Under an Old Railway?

New, 1 comment

While the trend is most definitely born from necessity, there's no mistaking the fact that living in slightly scrappy, minuscule houses is now officially the cool thing to do, just ask the guy who lives in a Mongolian yurt, the artists who crafted apartments out of billboards, the myriad of designers who create chic, single-person mobile homes, and the countless families that smush together in idyllic, 128-square-foot cottages. The latest endeavor to squeeze micro homes into every urban nook comes out of London, where CSRA Architects propose filling in the arches beneath above-ground railways with prefab apartments. The project, called (cringe) LOL, incorporates a fan-like skylight addition that allows natural light inside an otherwise windowless space. Check it out, below.
