Rent or Buy: In Truro, a View 'Straight Across to Portugal'

New, 1 comment

According to the website for this Truro summer rental, a family compound with the ability to sleep up to 18, the place comes with some extraordinary views of both Ballston Beach "and straight across to Portugal." That's about 3,200 miles away, a strain on the eyes even if you're wearing Google Glass, so perhaps it was hyperbole. The waterfront property is within the Cape Cod National Seashore and rents for $9,000 per week in season. In addition, the main house and guest house can be rented separately for $6,500 and $4,000 a week.

It turns out that the 3.3 acre South Pamet Road compound is also for sale and has been bouncing on and off the market for over three years. The brokerbabble makes no mention of transoceanic views, but does let us know that the property, which was built in 1892 and has been in the same family ever since, "may become a short sale." Initially listed in May 2010 for $2,500,000, seven pricechops and one priceupper have brought the ask to $1,495,000.
