At long last, after a months-long starchitect battle dramatic enough to make for a sparsely watched made-for-TV movie, the Miami Beach City Commission has chosen who will be in charge of the city's massive Miami Beach Convention Center. The victors: the South Beach ACE team, headed by architecture big gun Rem Koolhaas. That's right, Koolhaas' cohort—which, for this project, also includes landscape architect Raymond Jungles, developer Dan Tishman, and cool-guy local developer Robert Wennett—beat out the team spearheaded by architecture it-boy (who, by the way, was once an employ of Koolhaas firm, OMA) Bjarke Ingels.
