The New York Times recently delved into NYC's 21st-century manors, "bold departures" (or "pretenders") from the traditional estate paradigm. Called "mansions" by brokers looking to entice buyers for the lower-floor condos of majorly expensive complexes, these properties boast "24/7 white-glove amenities, security, and service." Indeed, chief executive of the Corcoran Group Pamela Liebman even goes so far as to call them "New York City's version of the McMansion." [NYT]
