The 6,200 square foot Glen Gordon house closed yesterday for $9.5 million (US), the highest sale price in the Whistler area since 2008. Sitting on 5.5 acres in the ritzy Stonebridge neighborhood, Glen Gordon is an active millionaire's dream home, with a tennis court, putting green, salt water pool, outdoor hot tub, sauna, billiards room, ping-pong table, and a covered outdoor hot tub for when all that activity really wears you down. Much of the interior is arraigned along a central hallway that connects the exposed beams and vaulted ceilings of the living room to the cozier enclaves of the dining room and the kitchen.
Despite the attention the Winter Olympics in 2010 brought to the area, prices in the Whistler market have been down 12% since 2008, when a home on Crabapple Drive sold for the highest price yet for a Whistler home - $17.5 million. Overall, only six Whistler properties have ever closed for over $10 million, whereas in Aspen, eighteen sold for over ten mil in 2012 alone.
