Location: Stonington, Conn.
Price: $1,950,000
The Skinny: The family of Heidi Simmons, the wife of decorated retired U.S. Army colonel, ex-CIA operative, and former U.S. Congressman Rob Simmons, has listed this stately Connecticut gentleman's farm for $1.95M. The 20-acre property is centered around a 20-room, pre-Revolutionary mansion, with eight bedrooms and five bathrooms, but is also littered with outbuildings. The guest house, built in the 1890s, holds six additional bedrooms, along with three bathrooms. Then there are the "carriage house, pool house, ice house, greenhouse, large shed/grapery, workshop, pump house, equipment shed, and well house," plus English gardens and an orchard, and that's just on the included 20 acres. According to the listing, additional acreage is also available, all in close proximity to quaint Stonington village. UPDATE: An earlier iteration of this post claimed that the property was owned solely by Simmons and his wife based on online property records. Mrs. Simmons formerly owned the property with her sisters and opposes the sale. Curbed regrets the error.
