Built of rough concrete and glass, this structure in the hills of Toledo, Spain looks like a barren shell, as if the builder ran out of money for its construction. In fact, it is a fully complete modern home by minimalist Spanish architect Alberto Campo Baeza. Completed in 2009, the low-slung building houses a rooftop entertaining pavilion with swimming pool, a covered parking garage, and a series of more conventional rooms on the ground floor. Casa Rufo, as the house is known, was imagined as a "cabin on top of the cave," according to the architect.
