$17 Million Nantucket 'Summer Home' Enters Contract

While $6 million plots of land and $2.6 million beach houses on Nantucket are being scooped up the very day they come on the market, not every listing on The Grey Lady finds a buyer so quickly. Pricier properties can take eons to sell, often after a one-on-one with the PriceChopper, but some blockbusters do lure in deep-pocketed buyers faster than others. Take this "gracious summer home" overlooking Nantucket Harbor and Sound, for example. The .65 acre property,"one of the largest harbor front lots on Hulbert Avenue," hit the market in late June for $16,995,000, a price tag hefty enough to make it one of the most expensive single-family listings on the Cape and Islands (the fourteenth, to be exact). The Brant Point eight bedroom with four baths in 4,500 square feet spent less than two months in search of a buyer with big bucks, having gone into contract yesterday. Any thoughts on what the final sale price will be?
