Whiteface, Sunday River Announce New Glades

Whiteface in New York and Sunday River in Maine announced new gladed terrain, and a new terrain park, for the upcoming season this summer. Whiteface cut a new 1,500 foot-long, 4.7 acre unnamed glade that will cut skier's right off of the side of Hoyt's High off of Lookout Mountain. Sunday River added 75 acres of new glades, including two extensions to Chutzpah and Hardball, and three new trails: North Woods, Super Nova, and Poppy Fields. Tha 'Rivah, as thickly-accented Bostonians like to call it, is also adding a 15-acre terrain park called T72 off of the North Peak high-speed quad that will house the superpipe and 25 other features. Construction took place this summer to add snowmaking and dig out earthen walls that will be the base for the new superpipe, which along with the expert Rocking Chair terrain park, have been moved from Barker Mountain.
