Medical Marijuana

What do the former Barnstable County Commissioner, a retired police chief, a few attorneys, and an alternative complementary medicine practitioner have in common? They all applied to jump through the first set of hoops to open a medical marijuana dispensary on the Cape and/or Islands. There were nine applications filed for Barnstable (although two were from the same group), four for Dukes and two for Nantucket (the PDF list is here). "Members of the DPH medical marijuana program team will review applications and decide by mid-September which ones will be invited to apply for the more vigorous Phase 2 round of approvals," with the first permits scheduled to be granted by the end of the year.
