As Shanghai Tower, China's tallest skyscraper and the planet's second tallest building, finished up construction on Saturday, The Telegraph was digging up photos to succinctly illustrate Shanghai's breakneck transformation. On the left: a shot of Shanghai's Pudong financial district in 1987, back when the city's population was just 11M. On the right: Pudong in 2013, crammed with skyscrapers, crazy-expensive real estate, and marked by the near-complete Shanghai Tower, which stands as a 2,073-feet-tall "vertical city." Larger versions of the photos, this way.
