Buy the Dennis House Where Gregory Peck Got Engaged in 1942

Earlier in the week, we wrote about an Edgartown property that had once been owned by the late actor James Cagney and is now on the market for $9.2 million. To bookend a week of rather dull celebrity real estate news from Cape Cod, we bring you this new to market listing from Dennis. The five bedroom, two bath antique dates to 1850, but it was here in 1942 that the actor Gregory Peck would propose to his first wife. Want proof? Well, there is none. However, an old looking photo of Peck trying not to bump his head while coming down the antique stairs is included with the listing photos. Apparently, he stayed at the residence post-proposal/pre-Academy Award, "for old times sake while appearing at the Cape Playhouse in 'Playboy of the Western World' in 1946." Asking price for the 2,147 square foot antique on .71 acres is $599,000.
