The Tugboat Grill & Pub Closes, Town Auctions Its Stuff

After being seized by the state of Colorado back in August for $10,846 in unpaid sales taxes, assets of the Tugboat Grill & Pub, a longstanding fixture of Ski Time Square, are going up for auction as we speak. An emblem of a funkier time in skiing, the Tugboat hosted live music and welcomed skiers and snowboarders into its cozy wood interior that was lined with all kinds of ski memorabilia, including World Cup bibs and autographed items from Winter Olympian Tarsha Ebbern, who now wants her stuff back. She'd rather auction it for local non-profits that see it sold for state taxes.

Aside from the standard kitchen stuff, the auction going down includes some speciality items, including:
· Stuffed and mounted bodies and heads of an African antelope, elk, deer, moose, water buffalo, caribou, two pigs' heads, a large boar, a Khalij pheasent, a duck,
owl, and a bobcat.
· Over a dozen shadow boxes and sign articles from sports celebrities and hundreds of other signed pictures and items.
· 20 bottle of liquor, 13 cases of beer, more than 9 kegs of beer.
· A pool table, 2 foosball tables, a dart machine, and 6 arcade games.

If nothing else, ski bums looking to start a new bar or simply looking for a flatscreen TV for their apartment should have plenty to pick through at the auction. We're sure sorry to see the Tugboat go, though.
