Architect Alexander Gorlin has been given the rather awesome task of spearheading the transformation of Eero Saarinen's 1962 Bell Labs complex in New Jersey into a mixed-use retail/residential project. "It is almost like the Romans have left the arena. How do you re-inhabit the coliseum? How do you inject new life in a space that is waiting for something to happen?" Gorlin tells Arch Paper. Across state lines, Saarinen's historic TWA terminal at JFK airport is readying for its next life as a hotel. [Arch Paper]
