I-70 commuters happily report that construction continues on the new Whole Foods Market located in Frisco, Colorado. Slated to open in Spring 2014, the high-end grocery store anchors the Basecamp development that also includes five other commercial spaces and sits directly west of the Summit County Transit Center. For second-home owners and residents of Summit or Eagle County, Whole Foods is a welcome and much-needed addition to the community. Many drive as far as Denver or Basalt for speciality groceries, so the world's highest Whole Foods (at 9,600 feet) is a hot topic around town. The new development is also rumored to include at least one restaurant and additional tenants should be announced in the near future. And for any of you who have experienced the special level of hell that is I-70 traffic, Whole Foods will serve as the perfect place to grab snacks or drinks after a long day on the hill. If traffic is already stopped at the Eisenhower Tunnel, pack your grocery bags with your ski bags and get the week's shopping done. Considering how bad the traffic is with the construction near Idaho Springs, this place can't open soon enough.
