Location: Gordonsville, Va.
Price: $10,500,000
The Skinny: The 6,200-square-foot, two-and-a-half-story manor house on Cobham Park Estate was constructed in the Georgian style in 1856 as a summer home for William Cabell Rives, Jr., second son of U.S. senator and minister to France William Cabell Rives. The estate was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1974, and now finds itself for sale, asking $10.5M. The landmark status (it's also a Virginia state landmark) means that the new owner won't be able to make many changes to the 981-acre estate, which, in addition to the manor house, includes five tenant homes, a carriage house, a three-car garage, two cattle barns, a hen house, an equipment shed, and formal gardens. Then again, he or she probably shouldn't want to. Let's just hope there's indoor plumbing.
