Valentine's Day is right around the corner and ski towns throughout the country are throwing down with way more than chocolates and flowers. We've rounded up some of the most interesting and romantic packages across the country, whether you want to elope on the slope or chow down on some seriously good food. And if all this mushy stuff is too much to handle, at least you can ski off your Hallmark-induced love coma. Win, win.
↑ Park City, Utah: This Utah ski town is rolling out the love with multiple Valentine's Day packages that are too good to pass up. The best of the best? Book a room at the St. Regis Deer Valley and enjoy champagne sabering and a special five-course tasting menu from Micheline-starred Chef Jean-Georges Vongerichten at J & G Grill (dinner costs $115 per person). Don't forget to check out St. Regis' 13,000 bottle wine vault and two-cab funicular too. All the St. Regis Deer Valley details, this way.
↑ Looking for something a bit more racy? Head a few miles away to the Waldorf Astoria Park City. The "Kama Ski-Tra" Package (available through April) provides a special night-skiing experience and a turndown service complete with a Kama Sutra book, adult games, chocolates, champagne, and essential body oils. Details here.
↑ Crested Butte, Colorado: Don't expect "Kama Ski-Tra" here, but there is a sweet Valentine's Day Yurt Dinner. Guests can snowshoe or cross-country ski (one way) along a one mile trail lit by tiki torches to a a five-course gourmet dinner. Cost is $70 per person and includes a trail pass and equipment rental but not gratuity or alcohol. Find out more over here.
↑ Mount Snow, Vermont: Take Valentine's Day to new heights (ha!) and get hitched at Mount Snow with the third annual Cloud Nine Nuptials. This free event hosts couples who want to renew their vows or tie the knot for the first time. The procession is a ride up the chairlift and formal footwear is replaced with ski or snowboard boots. The ceremony will be conducted by a local justice of the peace, followed by a reception in the Summit Lodge with cake, coffee, and hot chocolate. Interested? Check it all out here.
↑ Aspen, Colorado: Curbed Ski's already made its love of Aspen's Chefs Club known here and here, so it's no surprise we're stoked by what's on tap for Valentine's Day weekend. Chef Bryant Ng from Los Angeles' The Spice Table (and Food & Wine Best New Chef 2012) will guest chef on February 14 and 15. Look for some awesome cooking and equally delicious champagnes from the French champagne house Lanson. Also, more champagne sabering, because nothing says love like swords and bubbly. Details here.
↑ Sun Valley, Idaho: One of our Essential 38 Ski Hotels, the Knob Hill Inn, hosts an "Elope on the Slope" package that would be just right for renewing vows or celebrating a luxurious, private ceremony. The package starts at $659 per night and includes a ceremony, chocolates, a personal wedding cake, and dinner for two at the Grill at Knob Hill. Details here.
