New York City is taking on the problem of winter storms by providing an app that allows you to track when your street will be cleared by snowplows. PlowNYC, which first debuted in February 2012, provides the location of snow plows at any given time. The tool works for all five boroughs and shows your street's "snow removal category," or how quickly a snowplow will reach your home. [Mashable]
