German architect Gerhard Becker has been sentenced to a year in jail for the manslaughter of a firefighter who attempted to put out a fire in Becker's self-designed LA manse. Several of the fireplaces in the home—which enjoyed a stint back on the market after the tragedy—were dangerously not up to code.
