In a just-posted article at The Atlantic online, writer Sarah Laskow reveals that snowboarding was almost called 'Snurfing.' Sure, there was Jake Burton riding a 'Burton Board', but allegedly Burton had tried to call his new-fangled contraption a 'snurfboard' after Sherman Poppen's 'Snurfer'. More details, over here.
