Hermès Timber Daybed Insists it's Not a Sauna Bench

New, 1 comment

Nearly a year since last dabbling in the world of couture furnishings, fashion brand Hermès (of Birken bag fame) has unleashed a daybed that's as uncomfortable-looking and hopelessly chic as one would expect. The company recently asked Vienna design studio chmara.rosinke to drum up a maple wood piece inspired by Japanese architecture. The result? A beautiful item that looks kind of like a sauna bench with tennis rackets attached to it. According to the designers, the daybed also has some exceptional talents. "This furniture reflects your moods and helps to bare them," the website states. The foldable textile screens positioned over the daybed "provide the feeling of safety and also show other people how you feel." This is all assuming you can actually manage a nap on the thing.
