Jeanne Gang's Plan for Miami is a Choppy, Prismatic Tower

New, 1 comment

Starchitect Jeanne Gang has just released fresh renderings of the residential tower she's planning for Miami's Design District. Gang, whose Aqua tower in Chicago (the country's tallest building designed by a woman) has given the Windy City a lot to brag about in recent years, will soon give Miami a breezy 14-story structure that guarantees panoramic views of Biscayne Bay for all 76 units within. The façade of irregular, rippling openings is supposed to produce shaded, yet open-air spaces that will, according to the architect, serve as a contemporary reinterpretation of a "Florida room." The building, scheduled to wrap construction in 2016, will feature retail spaces, a resident lounge, and a swimming pool on the ground level. Bonus: plans to integrate solar shading and rainwater collection.
