Sheep To Invade Sun Valley In Ski Country's Quirkiest Festival

There are plenty of festivals in the high country, but one of the very best is Sun Valley's Trailing of the Sheep Festival, set to kick off this week on October 9. In its 18th edition, the Trailing of the Sheep Festival honors the 150-year-old tradition of moving sheep from mountain summer pastures to their traditional winter grazing and lambing areas. The best part? The festival concludes on Sunday, October 12 with a parade of musicians, dancers, wagons, and 2,000 sheep through downtown Ketchum. You can also expect delicious (lamb-filled) food, a sheepdog competition, and a Folklife Fair at Roberta McKercher Park in Hailey. Head over here for more info.
