Oops, Turkish President's New Palace Actually Cost $615M

New, 2 comments

Remember that lavish new palace Turkish president Recep Tayyip Erdogan just flaunted last month? Well, latest word from Mehmet Simsek, the country's Finance Minister, is that the 1,000-room complex actually cost around $615M, nearly twice the previously quoted price tag of $315M. As local officials told the BBC, the budget overage is thanks to a 250-room private residence for the President as well as thousands of imported Italian trees, each costing between $3,750 and $10,000.
