The Internet Hath Spoken, and This is its Favorite Bathroom

New, 2 comments

After months of online polling, the bathroom supply company Cintas has announced the winner of America's favorite restroom. The leafy green lavatories inside Longwood Gardens, a botanical garden in Pennsylvania, beat out nine other contenders to secure the prize, in a surprise triumph for the (nearly) great outdoors. Designed by British landscape architect Kim Wilkie in 2010, the 17 winning commodes are located inside "pods" carved out of a curving orchid and fern-strewn wall inside the greenhouse, and all have skylights and heated floors. In addition to being pretty and much more naturalistic than last year's Alice in Wonderland-themed winning bathrooms, Longwood Gardens' hobbit hole-style facilities also collect rainwater.
