Relive the Grooviest Decade in This L.A. Oasis by Hal Levitt

New, 3 comments

Have a nomination for a jaw-dropping listing that would make a mighty fine House of the Day? Get thee to the tipline and send us your suggestions. We'd love to see what you've got.

Location: Los Angeles, California
Price: $2,250,000
The Skinny: Beyonce loves Hal Levitt. Jennifer Aniston and Michael C. Hall both love Hal Levitt. Ellen DeGeneres loves Hal Levitt, but her owning a home by the SoCal modernist doesn't really count, given that she has owned literally half the residential properties in the U.S. at one time or another. If you love Hal Levitt, or at least feel like you could, turn your gaze toward this home he designed in the early '70s, which blessedly hasn't been renovated into oblivion just yet.

The 3,600-square-foot home just returned to the market with new representation, a reduced price, and much better photos. (The last set wasn't so hot.) This "gated tranquil oasis" in Larchmont Village, L.A., has communal spaces with impressive beamed and vaulted ceilings, where cool latticed screens mark the transition between rooms, and glass doors open out onto a "pool and spa among Zen gardens and fountains."

Apart from the second-floor master suite, which connects to an "outdoor veranda space," there are three bedrooms, with one downstairs currently set up as a gym. If Hollywood history is your thing (honestly, whose thing isn't it?), you might be tickled to hear that Snow White's cottage and wishing well are right next door. The current ask is $2.25M.
