Usher, wearer of coonskin caps and heartthrob crooner of the early aughts, recently went on a Detroit field trip led by Dan Gilbert, rich Detroit resident and CEO of Quicken, the personal finance software juggernaut. After touring dPOP! (Detroit's resident trendy design/architecture outfit), the First National Building, and the Chrysler House, Usher remarked that he's "really interested in building here." He knows that the city has been through a hard time, but Detroit is seductive as hell. Excuse us while we reevaluate the lyric "she asked for one more dance and I'm like YEAH! How the hell am I supposed to leave?" as an ode to the post-industrial city.
