5 More Ski Areas Will Open in CO and CA This Weekend

The number of ski resorts currently operating in North America is about to double, with at least 5 more ski areas slated to open this weekend. In Colorado, Keystone and Copper Mountain will both open this Friday after delaying their October 31 opening due to unseasonably warm weather. Also in Colorado, Wolf Creek will open on Saturday at 9:00 am, only one day later than their expected opening date of November 7. Breckenridge Ski Resort was scheduled to open this Friday, but they've delayed opening day until sometime next week. In California, Tahoe skiers will be stoked to learn that Mt. Rose and Boreal will turn on the lifts this Friday after a Halloween storm dropped some much-needed precipitation. Get out there and ski!

Copper Mountain: The lifts will start turning on November 7 at 9:00 am, with
op-to-bottom skiing on Ptarmigan via Excelerator lift as well as on Rhapsody and Main Vein via American Eagle lift. Easy Rider will also be open for beginner terrain. They will also have a terrain park but haven't released details yet.

Keystone: Head over here for more details on what Keystone will have open this Friday.

Wolf Creek: Wolf Creek will turn on the lifts this Saturday, November 8, at 9:00 am.

Boreal: Boreal will open this Friday, November 7 at 9:00am. They will offer one run with six terrain park features accessed by the Castle Peak Quad chairlift. The lifts will run from 9:00 am to 9:00 pm.

Mt. Rose: Mt. Rose will operate its Flying Jenny carpet lift on the Main Lodge side of the resort from 10 a.m. until 3 p.m. this Friday with terrain park elements including boxes and rails available there as well. The skis area plans to remain open from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. through the weekend, with lift tickets available for purchase at guest services in the Main Lodge for just $10.
