Eighty years ago, the Mojave Desert was alive with trains, people, stores, and cafes. Today, the buildings still stand, but most are long empty, leaving behind a series of ghost towns. One of those towns, Amboy, was listed on Ebay for $1.9M in 2003. After a foreclosure, it sold in 2005 for a much-discounted price to Albert Okura, a Southern California chicken magnate who has dreams of reviving the place. Curbed National has the full story.
