Kooky Texas Estate Surrounds a Century-Old Hunting Lodge

Have a nomination for a jaw-dropping listing that would make a mighty fine House of the Day? Get thee to the tipline and send us your suggestions. We'd love to see what you've got.

Location: Pipe Creek, Texas
Price: $2,995,000
The Skinny: The most exuberantly decorated compound in Pipe Creek, Texas is on the market for what appears to be the first time ever, and it's hard to know what to make of the place. All the decorative crosses, church pews, Day of the Dead paraphernalia, and interior stained glass gives it aura of a converted rural megachurch. According to the Keller Williams listing, the 17,000-square-foot main house was built in 1997 around a 100-year-old stone hunting lodge. There are intermittent exposed beams and statement chandeliers hanging high and lonesome in the spacious, high-ceilinged rooms, which are painted white, save for a few very loud exceptions. There's also studio and gallery space currently used by what looks like a painter and dressmaker. The pool-equipped back deck and covered back patios provide "breathtaking bluff and river views," specifically of the Medina River, which this wooded six-acre property has private access to.
