For $2.95M, an 'Iconic Mountain Modern' with Pixel-Art Vibes

Have a nomination for a jaw-dropping listing that would make a mighty fine House of the Day? Get thee to the tipline and send us your suggestions. We'd love to see what you've got.

Location: Signal Mountain, Tennessee
Price: $2,950,000
The Skinny: One of the most easily spotted tropes in postmodern residential architecture is the tweaked and repeated gabled saddle roof. In this 2002 house by architect Michael Brady—yes, like the dad in the Brad Bunch, who was also an architect—that riff on American vernacular architecture looks almost digitally inflected, like it was created for an early Nintendo game, or by a Minecraft player with a subscription to Architectural Digest.

Sited on the "upper 'brow' of Signal Mountain," it's got pretty dramatic views from each of the three bedrooms, to say nothing of the large back porch, which has an infinity pool in the center. Through the front door is a "grand foyer" with slate floors, and skylights running along the vaulted ceiling; other communal spaces have wood panelling and artsy built-ins, while one memorable room sports whitewashed brick and a large wall of windows.

The (presumably older) listing text shown on Estately mentions a "Lutron smart house system with audio/video controls," a "Panasonic intercom high tech security system," and a "Chef's Kitchen" with the works, among other amenities. The 8,557-square-foot home has been listed since April for $2.95M, with Alliance Sotheby's, which makes sure to mention that nearby Chattanooga is "a centrally located region for commerce," and that Tennessee has no income tax.
