Drop $1.35M on an Untouched Eichler Home in Palo Alto

Have a nomination for a jaw-dropping listing that would make a mighty fine House of the Day? Get thee to the tipline and send us your suggestions. We'd love to see what you've got.

Location: Palo Alto, Calif.
Price: $1,350,000
The Skinny: Often when an Eichler home comes to market, it's after a recent renovation, or years of regrettable updates. This one in the Charleston Meadows neighborhood of Palo Alto is a pretty perfect glimpse into the kind of homes Joseph Eichler was developing early in his career. Offered by the original owners for $1.35M, this 1950 specimen has a low-pitched roof, vertical-grooved wood siding, a brick chimney, a back wall of glass, and a walled-off side yard covered, like the one in front, with a recently spread layer of redwood mulch. The floor and bathroom tile is original, and the kitchen still has laminate cupboards and countertops. It's got three bedrooms and a single bath, all of which look in pretty good shape, though per the listing, an "architect's drawing to convert to 4br, 2ba" is available. These generally don't stay on the market for very long, so techies with an eye for retro design would be advised to move quickly.
