Caribbean-Style Compound on the Florida Gulf Asks $14M

Have a nomination for a jaw-dropping listing that would make a mighty fine House of the Day? Get thee to the tipline and send us your suggestions. We'd love to see what you've got.

Location: Naples, Fla.
Price: $13,900,000
The Skinny: Situated on an estuary on the west coast of Florida, this compound in Naples' luxe Port Royal development embraces its sub-tropical location with plenty of French doors, a multitude of old-fashioned dual ceiling fans, and Citronella candles galore, probably. The design by regional architect/traditionalist Jeff Harrell (sample quote: "I have often wondered while watching a 'modern' 1960′s building being torn down, what was that architect thinking when he designed that thing?") was inspired by Caribbean plantation architecture, an influence that's reflected in the home's wide-plank walnut floors and numerous verandahs. As befits a home in the Sunshine State, there's also a swimming pool, hot tub, and a boat dock for easy access to the Gulf of Mexico. The home, which is owned by Florida State Representative Tom Grady, is asking $13.9M, a price that includes the option to join the Port Royal Club but, sadly, does not include the club's $75,000 initiation fee (or the $8,500 in annual dues).
