This Bordeaux Project is French for 'Garage Apartment'

New, 2 comments

London architects Cecile Brisac and Edgar Gonzalez, along with a French developer, are hoping to do what so many before have done: plunk housing atop, well, something. According to Design Boom, Brisac and Gonzalez have proposed 19 apartments for the roof of an eco-friendly and brightly painted four-story parking garage. With a lush green courtyard surrounding the apartment buildings—as opposed the inverse, a more typical residential layout for Bordeaux—the complex would be but one part of Euratlantique, a large-scale development (OMA's involved with it, too) that aims to beef up housing, retail, and business opportunities in the neighborhoods surrounding the Bordeaux train station.
