What, exactly, is the special formula that makes clutter in most homes unappealing, but clutter in French homes undeniably and frustratingly stylish? (Science people, please get on this.) The best examples of this phenomenon are on The Socialite Family, a website devoted to showing the world "a sample of smart & cool families," which basically just means flaunting how much better the French creative elite are at decorating their homes then the rest of us. It's a website brimming with photographs of (boldly?) lived-in interiors, each vinyl record-stuffed living space more alluring as the last. A smattering of examples, below.
